In the year 1872 the ship owner Coenraad Kuhlman from Rotterdam has registered his shipbroker company in the Frisian Chamber of Commerce under the name C. Kuhlman Jzn.
Coenraad Kuhlman is succeeded by his son Johannes Kuhlman. Last century shipping companies were often appointed to vice consulates for their international relations and so Johannes Kuhlman has became vice-consul of England.
Johannes van der Meer has become the owner of Kuhlman. Trade with England has taken off.
Business is going well. Between 1955 and 1975 seven ships are built at Shipyard Harlingen: the Jenjo, Frisia, Hennie, Coenraad-K, Bothnia, Seven Seas and Coenraad Kuhlman.
The son of Johannes van der Meer has joined the company. The business is clearly not going well. Kuhlman has decided to sell its own vessels and to focus the work on agencies.
After the retirement of Coenraad van der Meer in 2000 the business is taken over. The company continues under the name Kuhlman Repko Shipping.
René Buitenwerf, the new director, sees the possibilities of the company. He has steadily started to turn the company into the all-round international logistics service provider Kuhlman Repko Shipping BV now is.
In October 2017 we have opened our second office: Kuhlman Repko Shipping Rotterdam.
We have opened our Lauwersoog office especially for wind farms that are built above the islands of Schiermonnikoog and Ameland.
